Lama Yeshe Rinpoche says: “How we think determines how we feel. If we think positively we feel better, if we allow ourselves to think negatively then we feel bad. The main message of Buddha’s teaching is to be positive. And if we feel bad emotionally, meditation is the best way to remind us to think positively.”
With his characteristic clarity and humour, Lama Rinpoche will explain how regular meditation can help us have happier and more fulfilling lives. He will share simple yet effective meditation methods that anyone can use to become a more stable and joyful person.
On Easter Sunday, Lama Rinpoche will conduct a Refuge Ceremony for anyone who wishes to become a Buddhist. Some explanation about the meaning of refuge and the format of the ceremony will be given on Sunday morning.
Please inform Reception if you are planning on taking refuge.
Clive Holmes will give talks on “The Roots Of Buddhism”.
Many people now are interested in mindfulness and wisdom. Most of these practices originate from the teachings of Lord Buddha. The essential first teachings are the four noble truths and the noble eightfold path, the so-called “first turning of the wheel of dharma.” We will find that we do not have to “re-invent the wheel” and simple humility will allow us to accept the value of these teachings. They show us how to live well and have worked for millions of people down the ages. The noble Eightfold path is based on how ethical living is vital for the development of mindfulness and the wisdom that liberates. Some useful contemplations will be given to balance the sharing of resources and information over the long weekend.
There is no charge for this course though donations are welcome and can be made in the Reception Office in Samye Ling
