Certificated Course in Qigong - Course Syllabus

Course Syllabus 2011 - Final Year

4th - 6th March 2011, 1st - 3rd July, 11th - 13th November

Introduction

This Qigong syllabus has been designed by Bob Lowey B Sc., Founder and Principal Tutor of the 7 Stars School of Taijiquan established 1985.

Since year the conception of this Certificated Course in Qigong, a dedicated website has been developed, many meetings with other reputed Qigong and Taijiquan Teachers have been organised to discuss, establish and structure continuing standards of excellence in the provision of producing skilled and knowledgeable Qigong Teachers to enhance the health and well being of communities.

Now in it's second and final year since its initiation, learning aids such as DVD's and books have been produced, and networking continues with other Teachers and Associations of like mind in the UK and Europe continue in the propagation of this wonderful Art and augmentation to everyday living.

The course contains a list of Qigong subjects, which will be taught in order to meet required criteria to provide the participant with the necessary knowledge and skills to teach the subject matter competently.

These last three sessions will prepare the students for subjects necessary for Qigong competency and will be contained in a programme ensuring that no lessons will be shorter than 45 minutes duration through out this years 50 contact hours of the course.

This syllabus contains the nature of each subject, the number of training hours for each subject and a lesson plan for each subject that will be taught and demonstrated by the Teacher. Certain lessons will contain practical work that may involve learning with another participant on the Course. The Course Teachers will honour anyone that does not wish to work with another participant.

The syllabus is balanced between theoretical and practical instruction with time allocated for revision of study and examination.

Final examination will be on the 6th session in which the candidate will demonstrate their competence and proficiency in theoretical and practical Qigong.

Weekend 4 - Session 4

Starts Friday 4th of March at 7pm.

Assessment of your current knowledge and practice accumulated from this Course.
Practical:
  • Demonstrate the 5 main stances used in Qigong
  • Demonstrate Zhuang Zhang
  • Demonstrate The 5 Elements Warm Up / Qigong
  • Demonstrate The 5 Animals Qigong Set
  • Demonstrate the first 18 Taiji Qigong
  • Demonstrate the 5 Element Dance
Theory:
  • Discuss the differences between "Active & Passive" Qigong.
  • Identify which of the Qigong exercises already learned are Active or Passive
  • Discuss the different types of Qigong.
  • Discuss the relevant Acupoints used in the exercises already taught on this course.
  • Discuss the main Meridians of the Human Body
At the end of this assessment, the participants should be:
  • More confident in their approach to studying and practicing further realms of Qigong
  • Begin to appreciate the many varying styles of Qigong and experience the differing qualities from an unbiased approach.
