Samye College Update from Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche

Dear Friend of Samye Ling,

We are very happy to inform you of the excellent progress we are making in our Samye College Project. In spite of all the bad news and recent recession we have managed to make the building wind and watertight! This has been due to many generous, like-minded people who share our vision, and who have engaged in the Samye Project and helped us financially. This has been very much appreciated.

Our college is the foundation of a profound spiritual lineage in the West, the Mahamudra lineage. Unbroken for centuries, this lineage has been of great benefit for the people of India and Tibet through many times of trouble and upheaval.  Now, in the 21st century, it is of equal benefit to people in the West. Many people today have much material wealth and many choices but are lacking inner peace. Buddhism can act as a medicine for those people by providing them with the methods to increase loving kindness, compassion and forgiveness for themselves and others.

Our goal is to complete the Samye College in 2013 and personally invite His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley Dorje, or, if he is unable to come, the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, to officially inaugurate this profound project.

I ask all of you to please have the wisdom and generosity to participate in the Samye Project. This will not only enrich you personally but also be of immense benefit for many generations to come. There are many ways you can help, from making a general donation of any amount to becoming a founder of our Samye College. All donations will be of great benefit and much appreciated. You can find out more on our website here.

Recent pictures are now online so you can see for yourself the beauty and progress of the new building.

I am now about to enter a four month retreat and so send you my blessings for Christmas and New Year.

With best wishes,

Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche
Abbot of Kagyu Samye Ling
