Birthday of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa

On Tuesday 26th June 2018 we are delighted to celebrate the 33rd Birthday of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje.

On this special day we will make prayers for His Holiness’ good health, long life and ever-increasing activities to benefit living beings.

Our Abbot, Choje Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche will preside over the ceremony, and the prayers will be led by our Deputy Abbot, Lama Katen, assisted by the Samye Ling Sangha.

We warmly invite all the students of His Holiness who are resident within Samye Ling and its surrounding area – and indeed anywhere else - to join us for these special prayers.

The prayers will start at 10am in the Temple and will include the traditional 'Neten Cha Cho' prayers (Homage and Praise to the 16 Elders).  Texts will be available on the day.

People are welcome to make an auspicious offering of katas or flowers, or anything else that feels appropriate.

After the prayer ceremony, we will light 1,000 lamps dedicated to His Holiness in the Butterlamp House.

If you wish to stay for a celebratory lunch afterwards, please contact reception@samyeling.org to make your booking.
