This weekend will be an exploration into how Tara Rokpa methods can broaden our view of what we call an enemy & give us a chance to visit or revisit difficult situations with a new perspective, making them more workable. In the normal course of events we tend to view anything that challenges our comfort zones, either mildly or dramatically, as a threat to our happiness & sense of well being.
These challenges may come from outside ourselves, eliciting an inner response which threatens to unbalance our equilibrium. But they can also have a cause which stems from within-for instance,a memory that triggers a reaction which ruffles us, giving rise to unwanted emotions. However our emotional response to negative situations doesn't stop with us. There are always repercussions.
This weekend will introduce ways of exploring what we identify as ' the enemy' - inner & outer - & offer a different way of working with those disturbances. These disturbances can cause ourselves & others distress regardless of their source.
The Tara Rokpa process was developed by Akong Rinpoche. It offers a range of methods for working with the mind in order to see, amongst other things, how we trap ourselves into particular & often unhelpful ways of being.
Compassion is both the start & end point as we learn how to recognise & accept inner & outer enemies. In turn we see how it is possible to bring about a long term personal transformation.
The course will involve relaxations, some writing, simple visualisations & the use of art materials.
Please bring a notebook & pen & wear lose & comfortable clothing.
Art materials will be provided.
