This longer course offers the opportunity for participants to deepen their yoga practice and fully immerse themselves in a yogic way of life. The course is structured to allow space for periods of reflection and contemplation. Participants will be encouraged to attend each of the sessions offered including Karma Yoga which is an integral part of the course.

Daily Practices will include;

• Asanas- physical postures to release tension, improve flexibility and increase strength.

• Pranayamas –breathing techniques which can induce relaxation and increase vitality.

• Relaxation techniques such as Yoga Nidra - deep relaxation often referred to as    ‘conscious sleep’ and Yoga Nyasa.

• Meditation techniques – such as  kaya sthairyam (body stillness), antar mouna (inner silence) and ajapa japa (repetition of mantra).

• Karma Yoga

Course participants have the opportunity to assist Samye Ling in the smooth running of the monastery as guests are respectfully asked to contribute some time each day to help out with daily chores. This is not compulsory, but if you would like to help out with any tasks around the monastery between 8.00 am and 9.30 am please go to the Administration Office at 8.00 am. They will let you know what help maybe needed. If you would like to help with washing up after lunch please report to the kitchen at 1.15pm.
This is not just voluntary work, it can be a practice in itself, known as karma yoga. As Swami Nishchalananda says,
 "it is an important aspect of Yoga not to regard work as a chore, but rather as a tool to increase sensitivity and awareness.”

"Johnny Glover has completed our two year Teacher Training Course at Mandala Yoga Ashram. He is trained in both the Yogic and Buddhist traditions and the courses he proposes to give in Samye Ling promise to be an excellent opportunity for those who participate and who want to go deeper into Yoga."
                                         Swami Nishchalananda, Director, Mandala Yoga Ashram.

The course begins on Monday evening at 7.00 pm and concludes at lunchtime on Friday.
The course is open to those with some previous experience of yoga.
Please bring a mat, a blanket and any others items you need such as cushions or blocks.
