This year we will mark the 12th Anniversary since Akong Rinpoche’s passing with a one-week retreat devoted to the study and practice of the Guru Yoga to His Holiness the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa, Rikpe Dorje.

The retreat will be led by Khenpo Ghawang who will give daily teachings and both Khenpo Ghawang and Abbot Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche will preside over the practice sessions.

This practice is especially precious and significant for us because HH 16th Karmapa made two historic visits to Samye Ling as well as being the Root Guru of our Founder, Akong Tulku Rinpoche.  Due to Akong Rinpoche’s devotion and commitment to His Holiness and the Lineage, Samye Ling came into being, bringing untold benefit to this part of the world.

Many of Akong Rinpoche’s students and followers share his faith in HH 16th Karmapa, so this short but profound Guru Yoga practice is ideal for us all.  Also, we heard that His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa has said that it is appropriate for us to do this particular practice at this time.

All practitioners, especially those with a connection to Akong Rinpoche, are welcome to attend.
