Identity can be based on the notion of the ‘self as a community’ rather than a single entity. This was one of the major themes and works of the constructivist psychologist Professor Miller Mair.

The weekend intends to explore this theme in a gentle way using some of the methods of Tara Rokpa. In particular we will use relaxations and art materials to begin to explore our identity.  We will use the ‘community of selves’ as a metaphor to explore the narratives of who we might be and how these narratives create ‘realities’ in our lives. We can become ‘victims of our own fiction’, and in this weekend we explore ways to view ourselves with less solidity.

Akong Rinpoche developed the Tara Rokpa therapies using the principles and practices of Buddhism combined with some methods and ideas from western psychological therapy. Tara Rokpa has benefitted from Miller Mair’s friendship, mentorship and his innovations in the area of personal inquiry.

The weekend is suitable for those with no previous experience of Tara Rokpa and its methods and for those with some familiarity who would like to engage in this aspect of the process.

It will be facilitated by Dot and Sarah, who are both psychotherapists and group Tara Rokpa therapists.
