Refuge Ceremonies in Samye Ling in August 2022

8 Apr 2022

                                                       LYR 2013

After a long absence from public engagements due to the pandemic, we are delighted to let you know that Lama Yeshe Rinpoche will conduct a (face to face) Refuge Ceremony this summer.

He has been abroad in South Africa for many months and is making the long journey back to Scotland for several reasons including his wish to honour the good intentions of the many people who have not had the opportunity to take Refuge for almost three years now.

To make sure that everyone who wishes to take Refuge will have a chance, there will be two ceremonies, one on Thursday 4th August and another on Sunday 14th August.

The exact schedule for each day has not been fixed yet but we hope there will be a short explanatory talk and then the ceremony itself.  Both are likely to be in the morning.

The ceremonies are mainly intended for people who wish to take Refuge for the first time.  However, those who wish to renew or confirm their Refuge commitment are also welcome.  And both new ‘Refugees’ and old will be able to take precepts.

If you would like to take Refuge (for the first time) please send an email with your name to reception@samyeling.org Also please include the date of the ceremony you wish to attend.

If you are renewing Refuge and/or taking precepts then there is no need to contact us at present.

We hope to reopen our bookings system around the end of May, So if you wish to stay overnight - or even if you wish to come for the day and take lunch in Samye Ling - we request that you wait till then before trying to make a booking.

We will follow Covid precautions according to the situation at the time.
