Ven. Tulku Pasang Rinpoche is the principal ‘Heart Son’ of His Eminence 18th Dulmo Choje Rinpoche.  He was recognized by both H.H. 17th Karmapa Orgyen Trinley Dorje and H.H 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa as the reincarnation of the Chime Drubpi Wangpo Rinpoche in Damkar Monastery.

Under the guidance of H.E. Dulmo Choje Rinpoche, not only did Tulku Pasang Rinpoche swiftly learn how to read and write, he also received formal training in monastic rituals and Buddhist classics.  In addition, he received numerous precious teachings, transmissions and empowerments from H.E. Dulmo Choje Rinpoche, H.H. Tai Situ Rinpoche, H.E. Drubwang Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche, Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, and Pewar Rinpoche, including the complete empowerments of The Five Great Treasures and Chig She Kun Drol.

In 2017, Rinpoche received the transmission of the Kangyur from H.E. Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche at Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim.  He also completed his learning of both the Sutra and the Tantra, and received profound teachings and transmissions from various Rinpoches.  From the 3rd Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche, he received shramanera ordination and Bodhisattva vows as well as the Great Kalachakra and other Empowerments.

In 2005, H.E. Dulmo Choje Rinpoche predicted that Tulku Pasang Rinpoche’s conditions to benefit sentient beings had ripened, and thus instructed Rinpoche to go to Hong Kong and establish Damkar Bodhi Buddhist Centre (a registered non-profit organization under the HKSAR Government).  Since then, Tulku Pasang Rinpoche, who is fluent in both English and Chinese (Putonghua) and therefore capable of teaching students in both languages, has been the Resident teacher of the Centre.

Apart from Hong Kong, Rinpoche also travels to Southeast Asian countries and the United Kingdom each year, organizing pujas and giving Dharma talks, with the aim of teaching people how to live a simple and joyful life.  With his compassion and wisdom, Rinpoche’s Dharma activities in Hong Kong have begun to blossom.

When the powerful earthquake hit Yushu of Qinghai on April 14, 2010, Damkar Monastery was completely destroyed.  Devoted to supporting H.E. Dulmo Choje Rinpoche’s Dharma activities, Tulku Pasang Rinpoche worked tirelessly on the reconstruction and restoration of the Monastery as well as Damkar Dakten Buddhist Institute, not to mention being the Principal of Damkar Dakten Buddhist Institute, taking care of the studies and monastic and daily lives of over 100 monks in the Buddhist Institute.

At the present time, with a strong motivation to spread the Buddha’s Dharma for the sake of all sentient beings, Tulku Pasang Rinpoche works persistently to benefit others while also shouldering the responsibility to serve Damkar Monastery, Damkar Dakten Buddhist Institute and Damkar Tashi Abbey.
