This retreat will focus on verses from the Precious Garland of the Sublime Path, as well as meditation instructions on tong-len.

The Precious Garland is an instruction manual by the great Kagyu Lineage Master Gampopa, giving advice for practitioners of the Dharma at every stage of the path. It is a tool to measure ourselves and our practice, which takes the form of a collection of points of advice, such as the Ways to Inspire Yourself, The Ten Things to Train and Persevere in, the Ways to go Astray for a Spiritual Practitioner, the Things to be Understood, and others.

Although the retreat is not for absolute beginners, it is suitable for those who would like to learn more about how to cultivate the mind and who have had some previous meditation instruction. Participants should also have at least a basic familiarity with Buddhism.

There will be silence during the main part of the retreat.

There is no fee for this course although donations are welcome. Your offering will help with the Monastery's considerable running costs, as well as the expenses incurred in inviting teachers.  Donations may be made in the Reception Office.
