Refuge Ceremony

9:30am 15 November 2022 - 12:30pm 15 November 2022

Cost: £0.00

Venue: Samye Ling

On this most auspicious of days, when the power of positive deeds is said to increase immensely, Abbot Choje Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche will conduct a Refuge Ceremony on Tuesday 15th November 2022 .  Known as 'Lhabap Duchen' this day marks the anniversary of the day when Lord Buddha returned from the heavenly abodes where he had gone to teach his mother who had been reborn there after she passed away shortly after his birth.

Anyone who wishes to formally take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha is welcome to take part.

An explanatory talk will be given by a member of the Sangha before the ceremony.

This ceremony is mainly intended for people who wish to take Refuge for the first time.  However, those who wish to renew or confirm their Refuge commitment are also welcome.  And both new ‘Refugees’ and old will be able to take precepts - how to do this will be explained in the explanation.

Please inform the Reception Office (reception@samyeling.org) if you are planning to take refuge on this day.  Please also tell the office if you would like to have lunch.

Programme:

9.30am - 'What it means to take Refuge' by Sangha member

11.00am - Refuge Ceremony with Choje Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche

There is no fee for this course although donations are welcome. Your offering will help with the Monastery's considerable running costs, as well as the expenses incurred in inviting teachers.  Donations may be made in the Reception Office.
